Agency (JRA) workers went
on strike in the
Johannesburg CBD on
Tuesday. SA Municipal Workers’
Union (Samwu) members employed
by JRA staged a sit-in from Friday at
the road agency’s offices.
A JRA spokesperson said: “The strike
action by some members of the
agency is illegal. We have not
received a list of demands, however,
we believe that the strike has to do
with issues related to the
interchange projects and non-
payment of performance bonuses for
the financial year 2014/15.” JRA has
agreed to meet with the union.

Tongaat residents are battling to get to work as a result.
