Geen einde aan geweldadige oproere in sig

Citizen photoIt appears there is no end in sight to the violent trend of protests in various parts of the country. This after a bus was set alight on Tuesday during a service delivery protest in Sebokeng, south of Johannesburg.

Speaking to The Citizen on Wednesday morning, Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Lungeloo Dlamini said a case of malicious damage to property has since been opened.
“No arrests have been made,” he said.
Dlamini could not confirm reports suggesting that shops belonging to foreign nationals were attacked by irate protesters.
“I am not sure about those reports, but we I will check with the officers on the ground,” Dlamini said.
Several parts in the southern parts of Johannesburg have in recent weeks been gripped by violent protests. Apart from Sebokeng, areas which also experienced protests include Orange Farm, Finetown as well as Kapok.
